Why Frogs Work

Bass hide in heavy cover where other lures can't reach. Frogs go where nothing else can — over lily pads, through matted grass, and into thick slop. The weedless design prevents snags. When to Fish Frogs

Heavy cover and thick vegetation. Lily pads, matted grass, slop, and anywhere bass are buried in cover. Summer when bass are shallow and aggressive. Early morning and late evening when bass are feeding on top. Anytime you need to get a bait into places other lures can't go.

How to Fish Frogs

Cast over cover and work the frog with twitches and pauses. Walk it across lily pads, pop it over grass, and let it sit in pockets. When a bass explodes on the frog, wait until you feel weight before setting the hook. The pause lets the bass collapse the body and get the hooks. Set hard and immediately start pulling the fish out of cover.

Gear for Frogging

Heavy power rods with backbone to drive hooks through the thick frog body and pull fish out of cover. Heavy braid (50-65 lb) for cutting through grass and vegetation. High-speed reels for picking up slack fast. You need power to fish frogs effectively.
