Bladed Lures
Flash, vibration, and noise that triggers aggressive strikes. Bladed lures create commotion that calls fish from a distance and triggers reaction bites. Cover water fast, fish through grass, and catch bass when they're feeding hard.
Why Blades Work
Bass feel vibration through their lateral line — bladed lures create strong vibrations that fish detect from a distance. The flash mimics baitfish, the noise creates urgency, and the commotion triggers reaction strikes. Fish hit because the lure looks like it's escaping.
Types of Bladed Lures
Spinnerbaits: Wire-frame lures with spinning blades and skirted jig heads. Versatile for covering water and fishing through grass. Willow blades flash tight, Colorado blades thump heavy. Fish them fast or slow, shallow or deep.
Buzzbaits: Topwater blades that churn the surface and create explosive strikes. Best in low light, stained water, and around heavy cover. When bass are feeding on top, buzzbaits trigger violent hits.
Bladed Jigs (Chatterbaits): Jigs with vibrating metal blades. Flash and vibration with bulk and action. Fish them like a crankbait or slow-roll through grass. Deadly in stained water and vegetation.
Bladed Swimbaits: Soft swimbaits with metal blades. Natural swimbait action plus calling power. Great for covering water and triggering reaction strikes.
When to Fish Bladed Lures
Early morning, late evening, overcast days, and pre-frontal conditions. Stained water and low light favor blades because fish rely on vibration over sight. Use them to search open water, weed lines, and structure. Cover water quickly to locate active fish.
Best For
- Covering water and searching for active fish
- Stained water and low-light conditions
- Fishing through grass and vegetation
- Triggering reaction strikes from aggressive bass
- Bass, pike, snakehead, and predators
