Flipping Jigs

Heavy-duty jigs built for punching through thick cover and pulling fish out of the nastiest spots. Stout hooks, compact skirts, and weedless designs that get into the strike zone where big bass hide. When you need power and penetration, flip a jig.

Why Flipping Jigs Work

Big bass hide in heavy cover — matted grass, laydowns, dock pilings, and thick brush. Flipping jigs punch through vegetation and drop into pockets where other lures can't reach. The heavy weight gets down fast, the compact profile slips through cover, and the stout hook drives home and holds fish during the fight out.

When to Use Flipping Jigs

Heavy cover and thick vegetation where bass are hiding. Matted grass, lily pads, laydowns, dock pilings, and brush piles. Pre-spawn and spawn when bass are tight to cover. Anytime you need to get a bait into tight spots and pull fish out with authority.

How to Fish Flipping Jigs

Pitch or flip the jig into pockets in the cover. Let it fall on slack line and watch your line for movement. Most bites happen on the fall. When you feel weight or see line movement, set the hook hard and immediately start pulling the fish out of cover. Don't give them time to wrap you up.

Use heavy line (20-30 lb braid or 17-25 lb fluoro) and a stout rod with backbone. You need power to drive the hook home and muscle fish out of thick cover. Keep constant pressure and don't let them get their head down.

Trailers and Colors

Pair with chunk trailers or craws for maximum profile and action. The trailer adds bulk and creates more water displacement. Match colors to water clarity — natural in clear water, bold in stained water. Black and blue is a classic for a reason.
