Why Creature Baits Work
The multiple appendages create water displacement that bass feel through their lateral line. On the fall, the legs and claws flutter and create action that looks alive. The bulk profile triggers strikes from bass feeding on crawfish, bluegill, and other chunky prey. In heavy cover, the commotion draws fish out and triggers reaction bites.
How to Fish Creature Baits
Texas Rig: The most versatile setup. Rig weedless for flipping into heavy cover, around docks, and through vegetation. Hop it along the bottom, let it fall on slack line, and watch for line movement.
Jig Trailer: Add bulk and action to jigs. The appendages create more water displacement and give bass something to grab onto. Match colors to the jig or use contrasting colors for visibility.
Punching Mats: Heavy weights (1-2 oz) punch through thick vegetation. The bulk profile creates commotion when it breaks through and triggers strikes from bass hiding underneath.
Carolina Rig: Drag them along the bottom for covering water. The appendages create action even on slow retrieves. Great for deep water and offshore structure.
When to Use Creature Baits
